Don’t like Windows 10 much ? As long as you’ve upgraded to the latest OS within the last month, you can uninstall the Windows 10 and bring your PC back to its original Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating system. You can always upgrade to Windows 10 again later if you wish to do so.

Even if it’s been more than a month, you should be able to reinstall the version of Windows that came with your PC using fresh installation media and its product key.

Didn’t find windows 10 much user friendly ?

Want to come back to your older windows 7 or 8 OS ?

Here is the method to do that

Method 1 :Fewer than 10 days

If it’s been fewer than 10 days since your upgradation to the Windows 10, or fewer than 30 days

  • You can go back to the previous OS of Windows by the following route :

Settings >> Update & security >> Recovery and select in Go back to Windows 7 / Go back to Windows 8.1.

1

This won’t affect your personal files, but will remove/uninstall any apps you installed after the upgradation to Windows 10.

Method 2 : If it’s been more than 10 days or 30 days

This option won’t be available in the Settings and you’ll need to use a different recovery option.

  • If “go back” option isn’t available:
Check if you can restore your PC to factory settings.
This will reinstall the version of Windows that came with your PC and remove Personal Files, Apps or any Drivers which you installed and any changes you made to any settings.
Go to Settings >> Update & security >> Recovery >> Reset this PC >> Get started and look for the option “Restore factory settings”.
  • Or, if you have a product key for the previous version of your Windows:
Use the media creation tool to create installation media for Windows 8.1 or Windows 7, and use it to install the previous OS by windows.
