Here again Tata Motors is back with its third and the latest compact sedan, “TATA TIGOR Styleback”. Tata Motors launched this much-awaited Tigor in Indian market on 29th March, 2017 and bookings of the compact sedan is already going on. The Tigor shares much of the design cues similar to the Tiago. Last year company came up with its game changing model named Tiago and now, finally its up with Tigor the refreshed look of Tiago. Tata has coined itself a fancy name Tigor Styleback. The Tigor (pronounce that as tee-gor). It is available in four variants – XE, XT, XZ and XZ (O) with all but the entry-level variants offering good levels of equipment. The XE trims offer basic equipment such as air conditioning, power steering and internally adjustable wing mirrors. It is just like the Tiago and a result of the new “IMPACT” design philosophy.

Design and features
Tigor based on the Tiago, was shown in the 2016 Auto Expo, Tata Motors has managed to bring all the impressive bits of the concept onto the production model.The car will be equipped with dual headlamp setup which also has a projector beam. What is the key design element unlike most compact sedans sold in India is that the Tigor has a coupe like design at the rear. The rear glass slopes down and merges with the rear which has a short rear.Tata launched it with a host of equipments like the Connect Next infotainment system by Harman with an eight-speaker and navigation on the higher variants. The petrol variant is expected to come with different driving modes, Eco and City as well as a cooled glovebox for higher versions. Safety features of the new Tigor includes dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) and ISOFIX restraints for child seats, however, they are likely to be a part of the higher trims.
Exterior Design
- The Tigor’s headlights get a smoked-effect and also use projector lenses. New chrome lining for the lower portion of the glasshouse adds a bit of richness to the Tigor’s look.
- It is a sub-4-meter sedan derived from its hatchback version. The wheelbase has been increased by around 50mm and the roof slopes backward into the stubby boot.
- The swooping roof and distinctive tail section make the Tigor look far removed from all other compact sedans that are, more often than not, hatchbacks with a boot tacked on.
- The freshly designed rear is on par with the styleback’s peppy styling featuring wrap-around tail-lamps with LED units, raked in windscreen, integrated roof spoiler with LED stop lamp, long overhangs and tapering roof.
Interior Design
- The ergonomically designed cabin with 24 utility spacesis similar to its hatchback from the perspective of styling and layout. Wheelbase measuring 50mm longer than Tiago provides more space.
- The lower set rear seat with reclined position make for enough headroom and shoulder space. Other utility bits such as rear armrest with integrated cup-holder add more comfort to the cabin.
- The interior is much like that of the Tiago. It gets a dark color theme with gloss black highlights.
- Major differences arise due to the additional equipment on offer. The Tigor gets more features in the form of automatic climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system.
