The Indian subsidiary Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), of Japanese Toyota Corporation, has confirmed that it may launch the new Prius hybrid car in January 2017. The company has already showcased the new version in India at the Auto Expo 2016.

The new Prius made its global debut in September 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The new Prius is the first car that is produced globally to employ Toyota’s new shared system Toyota New Global Buildings and the corporation touts TNGA’s lower the law of gravity centre for better handling.

The brand new Toyota Prius is powered by hybrid power-train that involves a gasoline engine along with an electric motor. 8-litre, 4-cylinder DOHC VVT-I motor with EV44, Ecosystem and Power modes grows 97bhp at 5, 200rpm and 142Nm torque capacity at 3, 600rpm. The motor works in duo with 71bhp and 136Nm torque producing the electric motor that sources ability from lithium-ion or nickel-metal hydride battery packs.

Toyota claims new Prius is sold with 10 percent increase in fuel economy and a 40 percent take hold of thermal efficiency. The car measures 4, 540mm in length, 1, 760mm in width, 1, 470mm in height and 2, 700mm in conditions of wheel base. The Prius is 62 mm longer, 15 logistik wider and 20 logistic lower than its forerunner and the extra span provides a spacious cottage for the passengers. Shoe capacity has also increased from 445 to 502 liters.

The hybrid car will also boast of 4.2 inch instrument cluster screen, touch-screen infotainment system, new programmed climate control system and color head-up screen (HUD). The new version is likely to be around the cost of 30 to 40 lakh of rupees as per Delhi Ex showroom price and Prius is one of the first hybrid cars to reach Indian shores this year.
